Felt Penny Pandas: Around the time of the Civil War, Felt Penny work was all the rage for table runners, pillows, all over the home. Little felt circles were traced using a penny, which were then appliquéd into folkloric looking flowers and geometric designs onto a solid background. My pandas are an interpretation of this needlework. I hope you enjoy them. They are extra warm to cuddle on cold blustery days.

Ming: 9”

In black alpaca and two lengths of ivory mohair. He’s got some cute little beaded flowers embroidered on his paw pads, and some red threads stitched into his nose. The extra fluffy mohair at his ears and ruff, make him irresistible to snuzzle. Pictured here with one of my teacup pincushions (see needlearts.)

Paisleys 13”

These are my newest passion! I start with the crewel embroidery on their woolen heads. Then choose a mohair to coordinate. So they are all assorted colors, and definitely one of a kind. Sweet little treasures – I can’t stop stitching them!
